An Amsterdam Heedopter street

You'll see these little Heedopter cribs, inspired by Amsterdam canalhouses, making an appearance in my Etsy pics very soon...

Things I like: Rifle Paper & Co

Since there's so much wonderful, amazing and inspiring work out there, I would love to show you some of the bits that I really like...

Today I'd like to show you Rifle Paper & Co.

Rifle Paper & Co has got a distinctive style: bit of vintage, bit of nostalgia but still timeless. But what really makes their designs stand out from the rest is their handlettering. Gorgeous, elegant handwriting in combination with hand painted illustrations.

Although they have got a (web)shop full of lovely products ranging from greeting cards, prints, personalized note cards and stationary, their real speciality are custom wedding invitations.

Illustrator and designer Anna Bond started Rifle Paper & Co back in 2006 and opened up her stone shop in 2008 in Florida. Their work has been featured in big name wedding magazines and you see their other work popping up here there and everywhere (like on my blog :-)

Although I never thought myself to like this kind of style, I simply love their work for its character. It's romantic and nostalgic and I've fallen in love with their handlettering. Not in a million years I would be able to do this myself but you can't blame me for admiring :-)

UFO's

For some reason I really got into a 'Fly' theme... don't ask me why although I probably know the answer: I've got something with birds. Always have and always will be. Add on top of that the typical boyish interests of my 4 year old son... you can guess where this would lead.

Have you got any idea how many things actually fly? Have a look:

I probably did miss some... help me out if you can!

Anyway, just to get to the point... I'm working on some flying objects (in one way of another). Nothing that I can reveal yet (so in theory at the moment they are UFO's - Unidentified Flying Objects :-) but I'll keep you posted!

Things I like: Helen Dardik

Since there's so much wonderful, amazing and inspiring work out there, I would love to show you some of the bits that I really like...

Helen Dardik lives and works in Canada. She makes the most gorgeous, colourful illustrations. I really admire her attention to detail and use of colour. The shapes that she uses are quite simple but with her eye to detail they become whimsical. And I love that! I can look for ages at one of her illustrations and I keep on spotting new things. I wonder how long it would take her to finish one... would love to know!

Helen's got an impressive client list and it's quite likely you come across her work in unexpected places. The other day I bought a rice lamp shade from BlueQ with her creatures on, in a tiny little shop in one of the local towns here! Just a few of the other brands she works for: Philips, Mudpuppy, Hallmark and Nickelodeon.

New! Personalized art prints

I'm so excited to let you know that I've got some new items online in my Etsy shop: prints that you can personalized or customize (however you like to call it) with your own name! These prints look great in the nursery and make lovely birth gifts! And, as with everything in my shop, the illustrations are all made by me!
